Families for Change NYC
equity AND excellence for all
We believe:
All kids matter and should receive the support they need to thrive in school.
It shouldn't have to be said, but when we say ALL - it includes students who are culturally, racially and economically diverse, LGBTQIA+, have IEPs, live in temporary housing, or are learning English for the first time, among many others.
Every kid should feel safe and supported at school.
We also believe all kids can and should be challenged to excel in school.
This isn't a zero sum game. We can have equity AND excellence. Join us!
Lets go!
Check back here for updates! Voting results are expected in June.
NYC Schools Accounts are needed for voting in CEC elections but they are also good for completing the annual school survey and checking report cards!

Confirm your NYC Schools account is open.
If you don't have an account, email the parent coordinator at your school to ask for an account set up code and the OSIS number for your student(s) and get set up!

The DOE's set up guide is here.
Get Educated
We aren't kidding when we say the current D2 CEC majority is far right aligned.

Their voting record speaks for itself.
They refused to disavow association with Mom's for Liberty, a far right hate group.

They voted to "question" the right of trans girls to participate in sports - which we all know is the first step toward broader attacks. The DOE disowned this resolution but the D2 majority continues to stand behind it.

They also don't show up or follow the rules - so much so that our congress members and local politicians have written an open letter to the DOE with their deep concerns.
Come see what all the fuss is about - join us at a D2 CEC meeting!

The next CEC meeting is Wednesday, May 21 at 6pm - PS / IS 276 Battery Park City School (55 Battery Place).
You can watch prior meetings on the CEC D2 Youtube page.

Watch for members leaving mid-meeting to avoid voting on resolutions, a practice the DOE has said is not allowed without an approved excuse.

We plan to stay active for the things that matter to NYC families and kids who believe equity and excellence go hand in hand.
Come make change with us!
As parents of NYC public school students, we want to ensure that families are fully informed about the behavior of their local CEC boards.
We are focused on District 2, where the current CEC board majority has demonstrated that it is more interested in associating with far right groups than listening to parents and students.
